Kim Defenderfer joined California United Bank in April 2009 as a Senior Vice President and Regional Manager responsible for the South Bay Office. Kim has 25+ years of commercial banking experience. He started his banking career with First Interstate Bank in 1987 and joined Mellon 1st Business Bank in 1996. He held various positions at Mellon, including Manager of the Los Angeles Headquarters’ Office, Manager of the South Bay Office and Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. Kim has always directly handled a portfolio of clients in addition to his other responsibilities.
Kim is active in the community as a current Board Member of Upward Bound House, a nonprofit located in Santa Monica providing transitional housing services for families with minor children. In 2010 he joined the Advisory Board for California State University Dominguez Hills College of Business and Public Policy. Kim is a past board member of the Torrance and Gardena Carson YMCA’s and the Santa Fe Springs Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to banking, Kim owned a solar water heating sales and installation company, lived in France and England for 18 months and was a logger in Oregon.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University.
